The Glass Half Full

"There are essentially two completely different ways to look at the Sony Alpha 550. The glass half empty view is that it lacks the serious photographic toolset offered by any similarly-priced model from the likes of Canon, Nikon, Pentax et al. A more positive view - and the one I'm sure Sony wants you to take - is that it brings high end features such as high speed continuous shooting and automatic HDR processing to those looking to step up from an entry-level SLR or high end compact."

Which would be a better opinion.....

About the glass that is half full
OR.....
About the glass that is half empty

Transformation Starts in the Mirror

This is a nice piece of personal reflection I came across from Twitter posts, about the "Power of One" i.e. changing one's own mindset to contribute towards the greater good (Transformation Starts in the Mirror).

Transformation is never a smooth journey. It starts with a realization that it takes only one ... to start and make that change. Enjoy reading this article.

Phase 1 Interventiopn Programme Completed

We have completed phase 1 of the intervention programme. This programme emphasise personal transformation. We have managed to get all group staffs to participate.

We originally have 18 session to cover all participant from the group but after 16 session everyone already attended. The last 2 session was redesign for staff's children and power presentation skills for transformation agent.

We are hoping that there will be a considerable changes in the staff's acceptance towards the transformation. It is very hard to measure the improvement but nevertheless we hope the session is of a great value to everyone.

There is a phase 2 session in the Mindset & Culture intervention programme but no final decision has been made by the company.

This blog will continue to be updated with tranformation related information. Do come often, leave you comment and suggestion.

Mushroom

I watched Agro Asia on tv last week. It was about mushroom industry in Taiwan.

A few companies are producing various mushroom for local and export market. The process had been transformed from labour intensive to technology intensive. This is to ensure consistent quality of the products.

But a few interesting thing that I found:

1) They have started the industries 30 years ago
2) 90% of the product is being sold locally (only 10% is being exported)

They have created a vast market internally. Mushroom have become a favorite source of nutrition and it has been supported by hotels and restaurants which have come up various dishes based on mushroom.

What mushroom has anything to do with our transformation?
Ehmmm.... opinoin anybody?

Do the ride things!

I rode to Pangkor Island last weekend. Yes, during the Christmas holiday. The 15 of us spent hours on the bike, enjoying the gallop and the views.

When I reached the island's jetty, I realised there were some improvement compared to my visit a few years ago. More hotel and chalet. More stores and other related facilities. Glad to see such improvement but really disappointed by the rise of hotel price during the festive season. According to a local, the dorm like room for 9 people usually cost RM250 a night but I got it for RM450 last weekend.

But it was fun. Dining at a seashore stall on the sandy beach with a group of friends was memorable. Riding in the sun and in the rain and talking nonsense just for the fun of it.

It's a very nice get away! I don't expect all of you to understand but I do hope you can enjoy a little bit of you life.

Do what you like..........

I attended a training session called 'Powerful Presentation Skills Training' last week. Very good course. But I am not going to talk about the training.

During the introduction session, we had to get up and tell a little bit about ourselves. Thing that grab me hard was about our chosen profession.

Some said that this is not really what they like to do, some said that their parent was happy when they graduated in the course that their parent choosed for them.

When I took Diploma in QS 25 years ago, I was in the same situation but not because my parent choosed for me, but because I did not know enough what I was getting into.

I survive for 10 years but when I joined KLCC I was asked to choose between Project QS and ICMS System Administrator. It did not take me even 10 minutes to think. I choosed the later.

I enjoy my work ever since but with no less worries or concern about what is going to happened. A paper certificate in QS but a working experiences in IT...... ehmmmmmm.... which will do me more good in the real world?

To those in the above situation, I do not have a clue what you should do but one thing I am very sure, you will have to do something about it.

......It's either you do what you like or you like what you do! ...............

Government Transformation Programme (GTP)

GTP Open Day receives thumbs-up from visitiors

PETALING JAYA Dec 17 — The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Open Day here has been well received by visitors.

National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) secretary-general Lok Yim Pheng said the open day offered a great opportunity for the public to understand the government’s projects and ideas.
“This is a good channel for the public to truly understand what the government is doing and voice out their opinions at the same time,” she said.

The open day, which started yesterday, ends at 5.30 pm today.

She added that the open day provided a “two-way traffic” for both government and the people, especially for the grassroots to know the implementation of projects done by the government.

Malaysia is an establish exporter of a finished product

Ganoderma Lucidum is the scientific name for a species of Red Mushrooms and is said to be more powerful than Ginseng. Known as the "Miraculous King of Herbs", Ganoderma (also known as Lingzhi in China; Reishi in Japan and Youngchi in Korea) is listed as a Superior Herb in Sheng Nong's Pharmacopeia, an ancient Chinese Herbal Text dating back over 2,000 years.

For thousands of years, Ganoderma Lucidum (the Red Mushroom), a kind of medicinal fungi, has been highly regarded by the Chinese as the "Miraculous King of Herbs." Ganoderma is said to be able to improve the body's healing ability, maintain a healthy body and promote longevity. Under the attentive research done by domestic and foreign scholars in recent years, as well as the cooperative analysis and clinical experiments done by hospitals, colleges and pharmaceutical manufacturers, Ganoderma has shown to have the ability to help and strengthen the body function more effectively and efficiently.

ps//
Well, do you know that a Malaysian company is now exporting a range of products base on this herbs to the America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and West Africa? The herbs are cultured and the final product are processed by the company in Kedah.

So, we are pretty good aren't we? If other company managed to become a world class health products manufacturer why can't KLCC become a world class project manager............

Clear Sky, Soft Winds.......

The weather has been good lately. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and clear. The wind is blowing softly. How is the weather affecting us?

Ehmmmm.... I feel comfortable. I do not have to worry about getting wet. The clothes are drying quickly. Less traffic jam in KL (I think). But that is small talks... right.

Good weather usually give us a chance to fell good, think good, do good things. Do you agree with me? Well, I certainly feel that way..... if you don't.... no problem... you are not me..... but don't you think we ought to fell good, think good and do good things, regardless of the whether?

Well... dah hujung tahun dah ni. Siapa yang belum menghabiskan cuti tahunan? Hahhh.... kena ingat ya... boleh carry forward 5 hari sahaja.

I've got 6 days balance. I am going to take one day and carry forward to next year, the balance 5 days. Need to take a holidays earlier next year.......

To those yang dah merancang nak pergi bercuti.... jangan lupa bawa kamera. Bila balik nanti, share them with us.

Happy Holiday!!!

When come back.. more transformation activities will be waiting!

Position Description

We use to have a Job Description which I am sure most of you had been filling it for more than once. I don't know if they are the same..... Position Description and Job Description..... but we have to fill it up again.

But one thing that I realise though....... Position Description is more general or rather....... belongs to the position not the personnel....... that is a description for an Executive or Senior Executive or Manager or etc..... in the company in general not a job scope for Encik Abdullah whom is an Executive at the Park & Landscape Department in Putrajaya @ PJC.

Phew..... get what I mean? ........eehhhrrrrrrrrr........... I don't blame you. I am pretty confuse myself..... heeeeeeee.............

How stuff works?

People says, knowledge is power. Yeah... yeah.. yeah. When we keep on doing the same thing over and over again, we become expert in doing it but at the same time, the repeated process (and the same knowledge received repeatedly) become our boredom. So, if you are an estimator, doing estimate everyday (because that is what you do for a living) can bored you, if you are a project manager, managing projects for years (even though it's a different project every 2 to 3 years) make you boring too.

So, due to this facts, we tend to find other things to do beside our daily routine. This is where hobbies come in. But to most of us, hobby can only be one or two because most hobbies require certain amount of financial investment. But most of the time, one or two hobby would be sufficient to give colors to our live.

But to those whom are hungry for more knowledge or information (not just the knowledge from the 2 or 3 hobbies), the internet is a good place to start. One of the place I found very interesting is here :

Innovation - A clean cruise

The answer to the problem of pollution-spewing vehicles is a bike that runs on human muscles.
IT’s been called a transport revolution. A bolt of lightning on wheels, it is one of the quickest forms of inner city transport on the planet. Best of all, it is environment-friendly. Meet the eROCKIT, poster child of green mobility.

Basically a motorcycle that you have to pedal like a bicycle to move, the eROCKIT is initially difficult to wrap your mind around. Like the Superman dictum of “Is it a bird? Is it a plane?”, the nifty two-wheeler is neither bicycle nor motorcycle. Instead, its ingenious inventor has come up with its own category: the human-hybrid motorcycle.

That’s because you need human muscles to power (through pedalling) the electric motor. The motor multiplies your muscle power by a factor of up to 50, allowing you to accelerate astonishingly quickly – comparable, in fact to motorcycles. The faster you pedal, the stronger the motor rotates and you can reach speeds of 80kph – that’s how fast a 250cc conventional motorcycle goes. If you stop pedalling, the vehicle will come to a stop.
Mean machine: ‘I came up with an idea of a bicycle that can overtake cars,’ says eROCKIT creator Stefan Gulas (left).

That car manufacturers are heading in the wrong direction, is one reason behind this invention, says eROCKIT’s creator, 39-year-old Stefan Gulas. “Over the years, they haven’t thought about what the driver needs. Everything’s computerised and they keep making cars faster, but it’s not about that. People want to feel they are an active part of the driving.”

There is more to it, though, and a hint of it is in the twinkling eyes and the big laugh of this tall, loose-limbed Austrian. “There’s a pyramid of transport on roads in terms of power,” says Gulas. “The cars are at the top, and bicycles at the bottom. But morally, in terms of the environment, bicycles are at the top. It’s unfair. So I decided to bring something to the market that overturns the pyramid, and came up with an idea of a bicycle that can overtake cars.”

It was with glee that the BBC, for instance, showed the eROCKIT nonchalantly overtaking a Porsche using pedal power, a laugh-out-loud sight.

Many also long to lower their carbon footprint, hence Gulas’ loving attention to the eco-friendliness of his “personal contribution to fighting global warming”.

The eROCKIT uses no petrol. Therefore it has no carbon dioxide emissions. It is also surprisingly silent and you can use either a horn or a bicycle bell to warn people you are coming. The high quality lithium-ion nanophosphate batteries claim to last approximately 50,000km or 10 years, and a battery management system maximises their life cycle. Batteries are recharged when you pedal and brake. When stationary, the bike can be plugged into a normal socket and get fully charged in three to four hours. Battery disposal comes as part of the price you pay for the vehicle.

With a background that includes automobile obsession, rabid environmentalism, mining engineering and multinational management consultancy, Gulas has worked out that the human-hybrid concept is what will make the eROCKIT attractive to greenies as well. “The biggest hurdle for electric vehicles is they’re very boring. Here, you’re not just adding a motor to a bicycle, you’re involving the human in the propulsion.”

Because it handles like a basic bicycle, the bike is also more manoeuvrable than a motorcycle. Anyone who can ride a bicycle will be able to ride an eROCKIT, bearing in mind only that it is heavier, tipping the scales at 110kg. In fact there are no gears or even a clutch.

I keep testing the solidity of Gulas’ concept. I remind him of the Segway, another mould-breaking eco-transport. It never lived up to its potential. “If you want to sell something, you shouldn’t force people to change their behaviour,” says Gulas. The Segway requires users to shift their body weight to propel it. “And they took out the movement of walking, whereas we’ve put in the movement through cycling.”
All of which makes the eROCKIT very cool, but the thing that takes the cake is that it looks cool as well. Its elegant, vintage lines won it a place in BusinessWeek’s 20 coolest bike design list, among others (its technology has garnered numerous other international awards).

At the moment, the plan is to come out with 10 to 20 vehicles by the end of this year, largely hand-made in a low-roofed 10-man Berlin workshop. Production will be ramped up to 500 next year.

“We are now developing cell production processes and considering production regions, but the factors that need to be in place are the right investors, people understanding the concept and a demand for the product,” says Gulas chief operating officer, Andy j. zur Wehme.

In Germany, the pair is exploring three business channels: partnerships with businesses such as renewable energy utility providers; making a presence in the German Environment Ministry’s 12 electric mobility regions (field-test areas for electric mobility); and developing dealerships for end-user sales.

The timing for this product could not be better. Germany’s national development plan for electric mobility kicks off this year, aiming to have one million electric vehicles on German roads by 2020.

Unfortunately, I never did get the chance to propel an eROCKIT, my too-short 163cm allowing me to merely perch on it, balanced on tip-toes. Gulas is profusely apologetic about this, but sets a two-year target for a smaller, lower-horsepower, simplified model.

What’s more, other products are in the pipeline; keep an eye out for “four wheelers” and “water transport”.
If they succeed, the eROCKIT will be to human-hybrid transport the way Coke is to soft drinks, and the face of urban transport changed.

Why it has not been updated for so long?

Thank you 'someone'... thank you very much. I've never thought that this blog has been keenly followed. My mistake. I under estimate the interest of the masses in this organisation.

Meaning of COHESIVE

After going through quite a lot of transformation activities (introduction, awareness, intervention session) I am still not clear what 'cohesiveness' means. So, being myself, I searched the internet. This is my finding......

Muahahahahaaaa.......... I really feel like laughing it out...... berdaya lekit lekitan...... muahahahaaaaaaa.....
But....
.... a cohesive group = kumpulan yang padu ....
Ok... that's quite acceptable......

ps/
We put so much effort, so much time, so much man hours in this transformation, to transform a group of companies with only 900 people. Just imagine, how much effort is needed to transform a nation of 25 million people. I feel like getting sick just thinking of it..........(because of the magnitude of effort / work / comitment to the transformation........)

Mindset Meeting 04112009 - Innovative

We had a meeting yesterday. One of the thing we talked about....... INNOVATIVE

This is one of the shared value that we are trying to understand. Innovative is mostly about dealing with people creativity. In our case, staffs creativity. Creativity alone will not be of any good. It must be translated to presenting it and acting on it. So, how do you handle creativity or in a more simple word, ideas?

We also discussed in some details about the way management should handle ideas. We realised that management must create environment for creativity or in a bigger word, management should create platform for INNOVATION.

Being in KLCC for 12 years, I had this feeling that, somehow, this has got to be improved.

So, we come up with these ideas.............

...... Innovation Year Award
...... Innovation talks
...... Innovation box

GREEN POLICY.... ehmmmmm.... another issue which require some innovation!

"Innovation . . . is generally understood as the successful introduction of a new thing or method . . . Innovation is the embodiment, combination, or synthesis of knowledge in original, relevant, valued new products, processes, or services".

"All innovation begins with creative ideas . . . We define innovation as the successful implementation of creative ideas within an organization. In this view, creativity by individuals and teams is a starting point for innovation; the first is necessary but not sufficient condition for the second".

"Innovation, like many business functions, is a management process that requires specific tools, rules, and discipline."

ps/
If you need more details on the meeting, refer to Pn R Selina. She got it all on her note book..... muahahaaaaa........ Jgn mare Pn R Selina.............

Tomato Story

A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

'You are employed' he said. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start.

The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'.

'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist.. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.'

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate.

He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60.

The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday.

Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles. 5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US ...

He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email.

The man replied,'I don't have an email.'

The broker answered curiously, 'You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail?!!' The man thought for a while and replied, 'Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!'

Moral of the story

Moral 1 - Internet is not the solution to your life.

Moral 2 - If you don't have Internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.

Moral 3 - If you received this message by email, you are closer to being a office boy/girl, than a millionaire. ..........

P.S - Do not forward this email back to me, I am closing my email account & going to sell tomatoes!!!

What is 'Mindset'?

A mindset, in decision theory and general systems theory, refers to a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by one or more people or groups of people which is so established that it creates a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools. This phenomenon of cognitive bias is also sometimes described as mental inertia, "groupthink", or a "paradigm", and it is often difficult to counteract its effects upon analysis and decision making processes.

On the positive sides a mindset can also be seen as incident of a persons Weltanschauung or philosophy of life. For example there has been quite some interest in the typical mindset of an entrepreneur.

A Little Story Delivered To My Inbox - Do read it!

I not sure how true is this story, but it's pretty touchy.........
=======================================

Saya mengajar di sekolah rendah di tengah2 bandaraya Kuala Lumpur . Saya mengajar sesi petang.

Anehnya dia hanya menyerahkan punggungnya untukdirotan .

Maafkan saya, cikgu." Jawabnya.

"Kenapa kamu tak beritahu cikgu dan kenapa kamu biarkan saja cikgu pukul kamu?"

" Mak pesan, jangan meminta2 pada orang, jangan ceritakan kemiskinan kita pada orang. Kalau cikgu nak pukul serahkan saja punggung kamu."

Cerita2 begini membantu melembutkan hati yang keras. Kata seorang guru, sekiranya hati kita mula keras lembutkanlah dengan perkara2 berikut;

i. Solat sunat
ii. Puasa sunat
iii. Berzikir
iv. Bersedekah
v. Mengusap rambut anak yatim
vi. Mendengar cerita2 kesusahan orang lain
vii. Membantu orang susah

Jadi .. renung dan insaflah .. semoga hidup kita penuh dgn berkat!

A Sample Of Success

Look at the car! She's a beauty isn't she?

A decade a go, item like this can only be a product of Maserati, Porsche or Lamborghini. But today, the car you are watching is a product of one of the giant economy of the east, Korea.

I am no car lover. Anything that can get me and my family from here to there, is more than enough. But when I see this little beauty, my heart beats like a love drum.

It is such a fine design. I love it. Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

But of course, it is my personal opinion. You may have your own opinion...... but look at it... long and hard.... and tell me what you think?

CLARITY IS POWER!

I've been with KLCC for quite somtime now. Pesonally, I think, this is an area where KLCC is not very strong at. When it comes to career development or company direction, most of the time staffs are lost.

I think, company's direction must be clear so that staffs can make long term career development programme. I am not saying that there shall be no staff movement (some new employment and some resignation) but at least for those whom are interested to stay, can make an effort to develop themselves.

I think this is one of the issue that being addressed in the transformation exercise(clear in company's direction, clear in career path development). Soon, we may be able to clearly visualise where will we be in the organisation chart of the company 10 years from now........ ehhhmmmm.... interesting.... interesting.....

Location : Promenade, Putrajaya.

I was there. So, did many others. Were you there?

Many of us were there but no indication of transformation activities were there! Arggghhhh.... we miss the opportunity to advertise our transformation activities.

Will it makes any different if we were there with posters, banners and other transformation materials?

Well... orang Melayu kata.... tak cuba maka kita tak tahu.............

Permata (Untuk Isteri Ku)

Ku ingin kau jadi wanita mulia
Yang tahu harga budi dan hati
Seorang lelaki bernama suami

Kerana engkau isteri
Ku ingin kau mengerti bahawa hidup ini
Tak semudah yang kita janjikan
Yang kita janjikan
Kerana kau isteriku

Haa.... ha........ suddently Hisham become Mat Jiwang.........he... he.. he...
Say what ever you wish.......

I have heard of this lyric many, many, many times throughout my life but only a few days ago I listened.

I was editing lists of photos of my nephew's wedding. I was arranging it for a photo CD which I am going to give to him as a wedding present. To make it more interesting, I add a background music (Permata Untuk Isteriku - Kopratasa).

The magic happened when I started running the clips time after time for fine tuning.

It just happened, each photos is displayed just at the right time, corresponding to the lyric. The more I listened and watched the photos, the deeper it gets into me, and the more meaningful the lyric becomes.

I am not sad, I am not under any pressure. But suddently there's tears in my eyes....... Why....

Well, may be, now I understand why Reza created that mini clips with music and images for each of his training session. Run it time after time after time, and soon you will see........ you will understand..........

Good job Right Eye................!!

Selamat Pengantin Baru
Semoga Berkekalan Hingga ke Anak Cucu

Masjid Besi (Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin)

Masjid Besi, that is the nickname of the Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, located at Precinct 3, Putrajaya.

I am not going to tell you about the mosque, but I am going to testify my experience during a Friday prayer there.

When I arrived, I did not see many cars parking by the road eventhough it was very near to Zohor time. Why? Aren't anybody interested to come for a prayer here?

Well, I was wrong. Most of the cars were parked in the double storey basement.

In the main prayer hall, it was very comfortable. The temperature was almost like in a shadow of a tree by the lake. I am impressed, because I remember when praying at the Putra Mosque, I was soaking wet in the middle of the prayer hall becasue it was so warm and I was far from the fans and main ventilation outlet.

An around you...... not many light were switched on. Yet it was sufficiently bright, even in the middle of the massive size main prayer hall. Some how, it was design to use natural lighting to brighten most of the covered area.

Whay it is being called "Masjid Besi"? Well everybody can answer this....... of course it is made mostly from steel............

Come and visit, you will be amazed! And to make it more interesting, that is the result of a hard work from our Public Ammenities team at Putrajaya.

There's a saying:you cant change the wind BUT you can adjust your sail.. the success at makin the quantum leap from hard work to work smart may ultimately depended on the mindset and value system...you need to cultivate the right mindset and value system in order to develope a culture of team work and ensure the success is sustainable=)

Meltinggg....

I've completed reading the book "Our Iceberg Is Melting" for the second time. Still enjoying eventhough I already knew the story.

All the steps taken in the process of changing become more clear. It has created the feeling of urgency, not only toward the tranformation of KLCC but more to the transformation of myself.

I've less than 12 years to collects the right amount of assets to support my well being after retirement. A pension enough for a decent living...... bukan nak kaya... just a decent living........

I have to transform from a reckless to a carefull spender. I have to create enough resources to produce sufficient continuous profits through out my retirement days.

I may last up to 10 years with the current assets (if I am very, very, very carefull) but what if I got to live to be 85years old?

ps/
Nak makan apa beb kalau harta semua dah cair.... masa tu, nasi lemak bukan RM1 lagi dah... makan tengahari tak mungkin dapat RM5...... camana plak dengan kos perubatan....... arrgghhhhhh....... boleh naik tersandar beb kalau fikirkan perkara ni.........

Group Discussion at Googlegroups

I have created a discussion group for our Mindset & Culture Lab. This will make it easier for us to communicate. Discussions are unmoderated but membership is restricted to invitation only.

I have sent the maiden email listing the primary members. I hope this will help. Later, we can extend the membership to all staff in the KLCC Groups of companies. The group homepage is:

Start typing guys and gals................

Great Discussion 08/09/2009

We had a great discussion yesterday. Pn Noraishah, Fauzi, Reza, Kit Ti and me. A lot of things were being discussed but I keep on feeling it was much more of a brain storming session.

Main issues are, the open day latest instruction and away day for MC and labs leader. Now, for open day, we have to do it within the existing Reza's session. The will be no dedicated date for it.

But one that really interest me was 'selling'.

You probably wonder, what 'selling' has anything to do with this transformation journey. Well, we are not going to sell ordinary products, we are not going to sell high value properties, but we are going to sell :

Corperate Agenda
Shared Values
Tranformation Journey

We have identified to whom we are going to sell them.... Yes..... to everybody under the KLCC Properties Group. That's the easy part.

The more challenging part is......how are we going so sell these weird products of ours? Nabil will say... Lu pikir lah sendiriii....... but that will not work for us..... We would rather say ... Mari kita fikirkan bersama!

What drive the nation?

RON 95 = RM1.80
RON 97 = RM2.05

Yeah... that's the price of petrol as at today. Those whom are willing to spend more, can get the feeling of more acceleration, else accelerate moderately.......

Petrol has always been a big issue in Malaysia. Some said our petrol price is one of the cheapest in Soutt East Asia. Regardless of what they said, petrol drive the nation!

Price increased had affected us in many ways. This Ramadhan season aaa....... kuih is no more at 3 pieces for a RM1.00 you know........ popia basah now at 50 sen per piece woooo........

But... in KLCC Groups of Companies, what drive us? Our salary, woking environment, company's benefits?

What ever it is, it must keep on driving us. Driving us forward to achieve the company's mission and vision........ for the sake of our competitiveness and survival in open market.....

Do We Need A Blog?

Do we need a blog as we go along with the transformation journey?

I say there is no 'yes' or 'no' to this question. Just that.... blog is one of the most current communicating fenomena. People of all types are blogging.... for a reason of their own! So, why not we joint them. We do have our reason...... don't we.....

We can taylor design the blog to simulate awareness of our transformation exercise. There may be no direct impact on the timing or result of the transformation but I think it is a good idea to keep our journey interesting.... Don't you agree?

So.... other labs.... if you have blog of you own, please let me know. We can link to each other. In fact, I want to know you through you writing........ it may be a different you, online, you know!

ps/
I really enjoy creating this blog... and I think.... enjoying what you do is one or the best things in life....

Appointment As Change Agent

I got a letter with a title "Appointment As Change Agent For Business Transformation Initiative" signed by Encik Hashim himself.

You know what, I've been in a group serving for the company (doing additional task to the existing functions as per my job description) but so far, none has been properly recorded.

Not that I am asking to be recognised by my extra efforts (if it is considered as 'extra' laa...) but it seems like the company is saying........

We are serious............
We are serious in our migration exercises.......

Ehmmm....... I can't explain why, but I feel rather good.

ps/
...... now you see... it may not cost much to prepare the letter..... but it may makes a lot of different to the person involved (it makes a lot of different to me)...........

SELAMAT MENYAMBUT RAMADHAN / Selamat Berpuasa

Ramadhan menjelma lagi.

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan Yang Mulia, Selamat Berpuasa Pembersih Jiwa.

Bentley

Sometimes a go, I watched a documentary about this company; Bentley Motors. They make cars of extremely high quality and performance. Just imagine, a luxury saloon that can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just about 5.3 seconds.

That probably has very little to do with our transformation, but an average of 11 years service duration for their employee....... yes, this is something to be looked at. And they have 4,000 employees around the world.

At the manufacturing plant, many of them have been working for 20 years or more. Why are they staying with the company for so long?

Aren't there any other job around? Are they being paid so well? Is the working environment so good? Is this the type of loyalty we are looking for? What is the expense of this long service?

Have any idea..... anyone.....?

Some troubling issues about "Tranformation"

I am sure some of you are still having doubt about our group tranformation. Well, I am not that surprised because it's quite normal for us being skeptics about all these changes around us, which are scheduled to take place soon.

Things that may come to you mind:-

What is transformation?
What's in it for me?
Will it effect my position in this company?
Will I be transferred to another department?
Will I be transferred to another company within the groups?
Will staff's benefits be different?
... or even, Will I be retrenched?

May be there are 1001 question that are troubling you. I can't answer it all for you though, but keep coming to this blog for update. You may find some of the answers as we go along.

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Apa kata anda.................................................

Putrajaya - Federal Administrative Capital

The garden city of Putrajaya is the seat of the Malaysian Government, having taken the role from Kuala Lumpur since 1999. Putrajaya was named after Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra.

The intelligent city sits on a magnificent 4,931 hectare spread located in the middle of the Southern Growth Corridor, which forms part of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC).
Planned with a sophisticated information network employing up-to-date communication technologies, the development of Putrajaya is a significant milestone in the history of modern city planning in Malaysia.

...... that's how they describe it at http://www.malaysia.gov.my/. To many KLCC's staffs, Putrajaya will remain to be one of their best effort. Even as I am writing this blog entry, more that 50 KLCC's personel still servicing either Putrajaya Corporation or Putrajaya Holdings developing this beautiful and modern garden city. But don't forget, there are also another 300 people of Putrajaya Holdings's staff dedicating their effort on full time basis, to the development.

So..... after this beautiful success... do we have to transform........?

It's really bad out there!

The smog.... urghhhhh.... very bad. At certain part of the Seremban-KL highway, visibility was hardly 500m. The air feels like...... thick and harder to breath in. To all collegue, please take extra care. Reduce spending time outdoor or if you have to, you may need to used masks.

But... what this isues has anything to do with KLCC Transformation? Everything man... everything........ Staffs is the most valuable asset to KLCC Groups. If they are affected in any way, the KLCC Groups as a company will also be affected.

But to my companion, the smog did not bother her. At 140km/h she just gallop steadily and happily.................................

We are not alone!

I was at the KPJ Hospital yesterday. To my surprise, queing has become an issue even at this private hospital.

What catch my eyes was their walls and message board. They have 'Vision', 'Mission', 'Client Charter' and shared value statement sticked on nicely.

One that really interesting in their shared values was 'Continoues Improvement'. It seems like they are saying.......... they will be no stop to the improvement activities.

Shouldn't we also have the same attitude?

Blessing in disguise....

I manage to finish the book 'Our Iceberg Is Melting' while accompanying my son in the ICU last week.

It is definitely a very nice book. It will help a lot in KLCC's transformation journey. But being new to this group (Mindset & Culture Lab), I am still quite confused with a few things from the books. But....... I would like to re-assure you... I will read it again........

Sorry to say... KLCC's Transformation will be secondary...... my own Transformation will be No. 1 now........ ...ha... ha..... jangan marahhhh...

Thanks for the books Fauzi.......

ps/ My son already out of the ICU but still warded.
