What will we be........................

We have built Petronas twin towers, we have built Putrajaya, we have built Suria. We have successfully completed quite a number of high class buildings, condos and hospital.

Have we really been successful?

With all the completed projects as our background, we should have been very well established.

We have all the experiences
We have all the technologies
We have all the data (design, specification, cost, cost analysis)
We have all the history (records)
We have all the lesson (do and don't)
We have all the resources (consultants, contractors, suppliers)
We still have many of the personnel whom were there during the development and construction

Will these help us in our future undertaking?

Will we be able to come up with a quick sketch of Client ideas?
Will we be able to roughly indicate construction estimate over high tea, lunch or dinner?
Will we be able to roughly indicate development duration?

Will we be able to generate business from all that we have?

Question, question, question..........................
Answers....... anyone?

The 1KLCC Remuneration & Rewards

To some of us, there is nothing new in the briefing because we already had it during the forum. But, to most, this is the moment that they have been waiting for. My group was for permanent staffs (Executive, Senior Executive, Managers and Senior Managers)

The 'going to be offered' package was presented to us. I saw some question being asked but nothing critical.

The immediate benefit will be the salary revision. The amount of revision will be calculated individually. The new salary will start in April 2010. Then, they will be salary increment for those whom has completed the financial year 2009/2010. Effective immediately, salary increment will be paid starting July every year. Increment will not be back-dated to April.

So, now we have to observe, 3 important date as follows:

1) Financial year - April to Marc every year
2) Benefit and entitlement - January to December
3) Salary increment and bonus payout- July every year

New offer /appointment letter will be distributed to everyone on the 17 & 18 March. Migration will be completed by 31 March 2010.

All new terms of employment will take effect on the 01 April 2010.

Appreciation Day

You feel good if you are being appreciated, aren't you? Yeahhh.... yeahhh... yeahhh.... So, they arranged an event call "Appreciation Days" .... to acknowledge effort done by lab members and many other person involved in the migration / tranformation of KLCC Group.

En Hashim, Dato' Azlan, the MCs, lab members..... amongst the attendees..... Woww!

We reviewed a year long activities from all personnel involved in the migration / tranformation. To most, it's probably an unforgettable memories but to me, most of them were new information. This was because I was a late comer to the migration / transformation group. But... I still enjoyed the event!

But one thing that stick to my mind..........
You have to be outstanding to be standing....

Well, I think I'll have to agree with YM Tengku Taufik. This is a tough time....... 'good' is just not the best choice..........

We have no choice but to take the challenge, head-on.
We have no choice but to bread new species with outstanding qualities.
We have no choice but to venture new frontiers.

That is ... if we want to remain, STANDING!

Project Management Forum

We had our Project Management Forum last week, over the weekend, yes.... over the weekend (5-7th February 2010) Pheewwwwww................

Turn out to be something a little different compare to our previous 'Internal Forum'. One of the most distinctive item is the panel discussion. This is like.... a forum within a forum.

But... one of the most controversial was the engagement session, especially the sub-session by HR. One of the issues being discussed was about remuneration package for  contract staffs of KLCC Groups. I think there was a mixed response to the packages.

To some, they may enjoy the extra benefits but there were also some whom were not satisfied due to major changes in the distribution of benefits that was designed for them.

However, overall, I think this forum must be continued at a proper interval. Though there were controversial issues but I strongly believe, a lot of information were being shared amongst the members of the groups.

Can you remember 1070 digit.......

Yes, I mean 1070 digits, not number 1070!

I attended a speed reading course yesterday. It covers topics of Speed Reading and Memory Management. It was nothing new, because I've read it in books before.

But the difference was the practical training / hands on part. You were shown how to use the system and benefit from it.

One of the best way to remember things / list / event accurately / sequentially, is by associating them with things that are familiar to us. To do this, we design a sequence of event / location / item which we call 'the journey'. Then, we associated them.

 Since the brain record images better than anything else, almost everything in the process were being related to images. The rest is all about................................

Practise.... practise... practise........

If you have a chance to attend this training, drop everything else...... attend.
